Built about 1818, the original farm consisted of a stone house and stone bank barn. Author, Pearl S. Buck bought the farm in 1942 and in 1948 added a wing to the original barn and built a machine shed and a ten stall barn. Ms. Buck raised prize-winning Guernsey cows. The farm is considered a historic farmstead and is being considered for eligibility on the National Register.
The Walkers bought the farm in 1984 and have used the ten-acre farm for their horses. In 1997, they began the conversion of the barn and addition into a bed and breakfast. They opened in September of 1999.
The original part of the barn has all the old hand hewn barn beams, plank floors, and stone walls. Guests can enjoy a large-screen TV while relaxing in a rustic sitting room in the original barn sitting by the wood-burning stove. Play chess or read your favorite book in the library or play cards or board games in the loft. You can have breakfast in the dining area at your own table, enjoying a full country breakfast. All of our rooms have air conditioning, cable TV, private baths and private entrances. They either open to decks or patios, with views of the horse pastures or our gardens. Suites have whirlpool tubs for complete relaxation. Your stay here will be in a beautifully decorated room with filled antiques and a king or queen bed, with many rooms having two beds, either a queen or king bed with an additional twin bed.
This is an awesome bed and breakfast in a large converted historical barn, the only one in Bucks County. Your stay here will be both relaxing and unique!
